Manganese bronzes are modifications of the Muntz metal-type alloys (60% copper 40% zinc brasses) containing small additions of manganese, iron and aluminum, plus lead for lubricity, anti-seizing and embeddability. Like the aluminum bronzes, they combine very high strength with excellent corrosion resistance.

Lead tin bronze casting is done by adding lead to the alloys. Manufacturers opine that as soon as the lead is added to tin bronze, the machinability and the pressure tightness increase. Lead is a good component that helps in reducing the tensile strength and flexibility of tin bronzes.
